Cheer Bell Gallery is pleased to announce “Feathers in the heart of the Universe – Christina Tung Wai Solo Art Exhibition”, Hong Kong contemporary artist Christina Tung Wai’s ninth solo exhibition. We cordially invite you to visit the exhibition at Yidege Art Museum, Beijing, China, from 10th to 14th January 2025.
In this age brimming with creativity and inspiration, art serves not just as a medium to express emotions but as a bridge connecting humanity with nature and oneself. “Feathers in the heart of the Universe – Christina Tung Wai Solo Art Exhibition” exemplifies this new form of artistic expression that springs from the soul as a channel for spiritual growth and a manifestation of inner strength.
Christina Tung Wai is a Hong Kong-based contemporary artist. For many years, she has long centered her artistic language around the motif of feathers, utilizing materials such as tissue paper and cowhide leather to express her insights about life and her desire for freedom. In her creations, feathers are not only aesthetically pleasing but also serve as a spiritual anchor, representing life itself and inviting contemplation of the cosmos. The artist elevates the ordinary feather to a metaphysical plane, resonating with the ancient Chinese philosophy that “By never seeking its own greatness, it ultimately attains true greatness.”
This exhibition features more than 60 well-composed artworks of feathers by artist Christina Tung Wai in recent years. Each piece is a reflection of her soul and emotional landscape. Through the delicate brushwork and vibrant colors in her artworks, viewers can experience the artist’s imaginative constructs and feel her reverence for nature and passion for life, resulting in a transcendent aesthetic experience that transcends time and space.
With these meticulously crafted pieces, Christina Tung Wai guides us into moments of introspective meditation, providing us spiritual insight. Let us encourages us to soar alongside the artist herself, embracing the fleeting beauty of life and striving to expand its infinite possibilities.
About Artist Christina Tung Wai
Christina Tung Wai is a Hong Kong based contemporary artist. She is now a Fellow of the Fellowship of Creative Arts from the Asian Institute of Creative Education, the Project Director and Standing Committee Member of the Hong Kong Modern Ink Painting Society, and the Committee Member of The 4-D Art Club of Hong Kong. She is also a member of The Hong Kong Artists Association, HongKong Guangzhou Arts Association and Contemporary Innovative Ink Painting Association.
She started her endeavor in art by studying ceramic art under Ms. Janet Tso in 2010, and later, Chinese ink art under contemporary ink colour Master Lam Tian Xing and Lingnan school ink painting Master Lam Wu Fui, and Chinese calligraphy under Chinese calligraphers Cheung Sing Kwo and Bai He. In 2019, she completed the “Contemporary Ink Artists Summit Program” at Shanghai Institute of Visual Art, and is now studying Chinese ink art under the tutelage of Master Liu Kuo-sung, Father of Modern Ink Painting.
In 2018, her work “Noble Aspiration” became a collection of the Russian Consulate. She is the award winner of Salvatore Ferragamo shoe design for 2020. Other than that, in 2020, her works “Propitious Portent” and “Anti-coronavirus” were selected into Ink Global as 1 of the 500 ink masterpieces worldwide and featured in Beijing International Art Biennale respectively. In 2020 and 2021, she was nominated and selected into “Chinese Contemporary Art Document” and “Chinese She Art” respectively. In 2023, she was awarded the first prize at the “Golden Bauhinia Cup New Ink Paintings Competition”.
In her artistic work since 2011, Christina Tung Wai has held 8 solo exhibitions and taken part in over 55 international and overseas joint expositions and exhibitions, with hosting places like the mainland China, France, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, etc.

董慧是一位一直在香港生活工作的当代艺术家，长期以来她以羽毛为核心意象建构了自己独特的艺术语言，通过属于她的绘画媒材如雪梨纸及牛皮革展现了她对生命的体悟、自由的向往。在她的作品中，羽毛不仅是一种视觉审美，更是一种心灵的寄托，是生命的化身和隐喻，是对宇宙恒常的思索与追问，艺术家将羽毛这一寻常之“物”上升到形而上的精神域场，暗合了中国传统文化中的“是以圣人终不为大，故能成其大”的古老哲思。
此展览汇聚了艺术家董慧近年来精心创作的羽毛作品60余幅，可以说，每一幅作品都是她心灵的写照和情感的映像，透过作品中细腻的笔触与斑斓的色彩墨韵，不仅可以领略到艺术家的奇思妙构，也可以感受到艺术家对自然的敬畏和对生命的热爱，获得一种物我两忘超越时空的审美体验。

关于艺术家董慧
董慧，香港当代艺术家。现任亚洲创意教育协会创意艺术院士、香港现代水墨画会项目总监及常委、四维彩墨画会理事；同时为香港美协、香港广州书画会及当代创意水墨画会会员。
2010年开始，董慧先后师从曹京学习陶艺、水墨大师林天行和林湖奎习画，以及书法家张圣果和白鹤学习书法；2019 年结业于上海视觉艺术学院「当代水墨人才高峰班」，现师从现代水墨之父刘国松。
2018年作品〈云中白鹤〉获俄罗斯驻港总领事馆收藏。2020 年获意大利国际品牌萨瓦托 · 菲拉格慕 (Salvatore Ferragamo) 鞋履设计大奖；作品〈紫气东来〉入选《全球水墨画大展》500 幅优秀水墨画作；作品〈斩妖除魔〉入选《中国北京国际美术双年展》。2020年及2021年分别获提名并入编《中国当代艺术文献》及《中国“她”艺术》。2023 年荣获《金紫荆杯新水墨画大赛》一等奖。
除此以外，从2011年起至今的艺术工作中，董慧曾办8次个展，参与超过55次大型国际及海外展览和博览会，地区包括中国内地、法国、韩国、台湾、马来西亚、新加坡等。

《千尋之境》- 王建曉個展@典亞藝博 2023
“Up Above the Sky” - Wang Jianxiao Solo Exhibition 2023 is open! Come visit us at Booth F6, Hall 3C, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Wan Chai.
As the curator of this exhibition, Christina Tung Wai presents works from artist Jian (Wang Jianxiao). Jian’s works consist of unique textures with repeated strokes and blocks of colours applied by a palette knife, a crucial tool and the carrier of inspiration, showing a strong sense of rhythm and movement. Though Jian’s artistic style appears to be abstract, she takes inspiration from ancient Chinese poetry and incorporates in her works figurative elements such as floral shapes and bird patterns that appeared in her dreams, fantasies, or fragments of life. It is essentially a reinterpretation of elements of flowers, water, and clouds in traditional Chinese poetry. The alternation and overlap between various texture in Jian’s works will surely evoke viewers’ sensation of synesthesia and stir one’s soul, as if an unbridled symphony envisioning a resplendent and kaleidoscopic world with colour as notes and texture as rhythm.
《千尋之境》 王建曉個展 2023 現已開幕！歡迎蒞臨灣仔香港會議展覽中心 3C 展覽廳 F6 展位參觀。
是次展覽由董慧擔任策展人，呈獻藝術家王建曉的作品。畫刀是王氏創作靈感的重要工具與載體，許多畫面上獨有的的肌理效果均為畫刀營造的，線條和色塊呈現出強烈的節奏感與動感。雖然王氏的作品以抽象的風格為畫面主軸，但當中含有的具象元素，比如一些花卉的形狀和飛鳥的圖案等，靈感都源自於王氏對中國古代詩詞的情思，甚至是其夢境、幻想或者生活中的片段，是對傳統詩歌中花、水、雲的重新演繹。其作品中不同肌理間的變換與交疊，常常給人一種通感，有如自由奔放的變奏曲：以顏色為音符、以肌理為節奏，構建出靈動神秘而又流光溢彩的世界。

“Golden Bauhinia Cup New Ink Paintings Competition Exhibition 2023” is now open, showcasing works of 15 artists from the mainland China and Hong Kong. Hong Kong Contemporary Ink Feather Artist Christina Tung Wai was 1 of the 5 first prize awardees, exhibiting her works “All I Have to Do is Dream”, “Propitious Portent” and “God’s Will” at the award ceremony and exhibition space “Hong Kong Art”.

Hong Kong contemporary ink feather artist Christina Tung Wai will soon be exhibiting in “Awakening Desert - Hong Kong Outstanding Artists Exhibition” held at Hall 9 of AsiaWorld-Expo from 24th to 27th May 2023. “Odyssey of Feather” - Christina Tung Solo Exhibition 2023 at Booth 9E11 will showcase 30 of Christina's
artworks, including “Miracle 2” with characteristics of the times and “Propitious Portent”, one of the top 500 ink paintings worldwide in “Ink Global 2021”. Christina’s solo exhibition will also feature her iconic feather works that utilise various materials and media. Through her artistic creations, Christina presented a wondrous dream, essentially a passionate love letter to life itself.

Christina Tung is glad to be invited to collaborate with embroidery craftsman Master Cheng at La broderie, holding “Art on Screen” exhibition. Not only will this
exhibition showcase artist Christina Tung’s feather series and earlier works, but it will also present collaborative art pieces made on canvases of prime grade cowhide leather – “Art on Screen” series by Christina and Master Cheng. This series features a collaborative effort with Christina’s signature feather figure and Master Cheng’s embroidery handcrafts. Through this series, Christina hopes for viewers to be more mindful while scrolling through our phones and the effect it could have on people or even things happening around us.
董慧很榮幸獲邀與繡飾 · 度人的鄭老師合作，舉行「無言的藝術」展覽。這次展覽不但展出藝術家董慧的羽毛及早期作品，更展出董慧與刺繡師傅鄭老師的合作作品 - 「無言的藝術」 (Art on Screen) 系列，在頂級牛皮革以董慧具標誌性的羽毛，拼配的刺繡工藝品。董慧希望透過此系列，讓觀者反思平常低頭看手機的習慣，以及因此而不經意忽略身邊的一些人和事。

Cheer Bell Gallery is delighted to announce our participation in Hong Kong Art Gallery Association’s Fundraiser 2021, exhibiting Rainbow Life by Christina Tung at Art Basel Hong Kong (19 - 23 May), along with All I Have to Do is Dream by Christina Tung on the Fundraiser’s official website.
Presenting works from 19 HKAGA member galleries, the HKAGA Fundraiser will showcase a variety of young and established artists in a communal effort to support Hong Kong galleries as well as their artists. Over half of the participating artists are from Hong Kong or are Hong Kong-based. Winning Design of HKAGA x Ferragamo
香港畫廊協會 x Ferragamo 鞋履設計大獎
collaboration between HKAGA and prestige Italian brand Ferragamo held in June 2020. After learning of the news, Shan Ying spent an entire month studying and learning techniques for painting leather shoes on her own. During the process, she applied Chinese ink painting techniques on the shoes. In order to bring to light Chinese culture and art, she incorporated Chinese ink elements into the shoe design of an international brand.
繕影(董慧)有幸獲得由香港畫廊協會及意大利國際品牌Ferragamo於2020年6月合辦的Ferragamo鞋履設計大獎。得到獲選消息後，繕影花了一整個月時間四處張羅及自學皮革製鞋的手繪技巧，並積極將中國水墨繪畫技巧運用於鞋履上。希望能藉此將中國水墨的傳統精神納用於國際品牌的鞋履上，讓大眾多接觸中國文化，使當代水墨得到注視。

“Art Talk: Fuchsia Lotus in Radiance: Paintings of Lam Tian Xing” was a great success! “Art Talk: Fuchsia Lotus in Radiance: Paintings of Lam Tian Xing” activity was held successfully on 2 March 2019. Cheer Bell Gallery would
like to express gratitude to all the guests and wish you all have a wonderful afternoon at Fang Fang. Christina Tung hosted an art talk about the works of renowned Chinese ink artist and Chairman of Hong Kong Artists Association, Mr. Lam Tian Xing, and the story of how Mr. Lam created his Tibet and Lotus series. While enjoying the food prepared by Fang Fang, the guests submerge themselves in his paintings. She believed they were impressed by the skill, effort and creativity in both the food and artworks. The mixologists at Fang Fang mixed a cocktail exclusively for this event. Named after Mr. Lam’s painting, In the Rain, the cocktail reflects not only their skills, but also their passion which in turn enhances the entire experience.
“藝術講座: 映日荷花別樣紅 - 林天行的繪畫世界” 活動大獲成功! “藝術講座: 映日荷花別樣紅 - 林天行的繪畫世界”。 活動已於三月二日圓滿結束，盈鑾畫廊及董慧衷心感謝大家來臨Fang Fang共渡愉快的下午。 董慧主持了一個關於香港美術協會新任主席，號「大也堂主」的當代水墨畫家林天行老師的蓮花及西藏的作品為主題的藝術講座，講述林老師在西藏的創作經歷。來賓觀賞畫作期間，亦享受Fang Fang提供的佳餚。相信當中的創意、技巧和努力為他們留下深刻印象。 Fang Fang的調酒師更特意調配了名為「蓮雨」的雞尾酒，以呼應林老師的同名作品。他們的技巧和熱情皆反映在雞尾酒之上，令整個體驗更上一層樓。
